The standard annual fees are Rs 50 for MeroShare and Rs 100 for DeMat, and the deadline is Ashadh masanta — Ashadh 31, 2084 BS (16 July 2027) for the current fiscal year. What are MeroShare and DeMat?
A DeMat account holds your shares electronically. It is opened with a depository participant (DP) — a bank's capital arm or a broker — under CDS and Clearing Ltd. (CDSC).
MeroShare is CDSC's online service linked to your DeMat account. You use it to apply for IPOs and right shares, check your portfolio, and handle transfers (EDIS).
Both carry a yearly fee, so both need renewing every fiscal year.
How to renew MeroShare and DeMat
- 1Keep enough balance in the bank account linked to your DeMat. Many DPs collect the yearly fees automatically from it before the fiscal year ends.
- 2If your DP doesn't auto-collect, pay the fee directly to your DP — at their office or through the payment option they provide.
- 3Log in to MeroShare to confirm your account is active and shows no expiry notice.
- 4Do it before Ashadh masanta, the last day of the fiscal year.
Procedures differ between DPs, so confirm the exact method and current fees with your DP.
What happens if you don't renew?
If MeroShare isn't renewed, you may be unable to use it — for example to apply for IPOs — until the fee is paid. Unpaid DeMat fees stay due, and your DP may restrict the account until they are cleared. Renewing on time avoids both.
